How can we help?
Quick answers to the most common questions. Can’t find yours? Write to us, and a real person will reply.
Does Scratchy upload my photos?
No. Scratchy analyzes your photos and videos on your iPhone using Apple’s on-device frameworks. Your library is never sent to us or anyone else. See the Privacy Policy for details.
I deleted photos but my storage didn’t go down
Deleted photos and videos go to the Recently Deleted album in the Photos app, where iOS keeps them for 30 days. To free the space right away, open Photos → Collections → Recently Deleted → Select → Delete All.
Can I get a deleted photo back?
Yes, within 30 days. Open Photos → Collections → Recently Deleted, select the photo and tap Recover.
How does Scratchy pick the best shot?
In each group of similar photos, Scratchy looks at sharpness, exposure and overall quality on your device and stars the best one. To choose a different photo, touch and hold it and pick Keep This Photo. Tap any photo to change what gets removed.
Are my favorites safe?
Yes. Protect Favorites is on by default, so photos you marked as favorites are never pre-selected for deletion. You can change this in Scratchy → Settings.
Scratchy only sees some of my photos
You probably gave Scratchy access to selected photos only. Open iPhone Settings → Apps → Scratchy → Photos and choose Full Access, then return to Scratchy.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Choose Scratchy and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid being charged. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel the subscription.
How do I restore my purchase on a new iPhone?
Sign in with the same Apple Account, open Scratchy → Settings and tap Restore Purchases.
How do I get a refund?
Payments are handled by Apple, so refunds are too. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, choose the Scratchy purchase and select “Request a refund”.
What happens to my Secret Vault if I delete the app?
Its contents are deleted for good. Vault items are encrypted with a key that exists only on your iPhone, and they are not included in iCloud or device backups, so nobody can recover them, including us. Before deleting the app or switching phones, open the vault and export anything you want to keep.
Is the password check safe?
Yes. Your password is hashed on your iPhone and only the first 5 characters of the hash are sent to the Pwned Passwords service. The match happens on your device, so neither the service nor we ever see your password.
